Getting Started (Beginner Guide)

A practical checklist for your first sessions in Basketball Zero: roles, core objectives, and what to learn first.

1) Pick a role, then learn one job

  • Guard: handle the ball, create advantages, and keep the offense organized.
  • Wing: flexible scorer/defender; learn spacing, rotations, and secondary creation.
  • Big: protect the rim, rebound, screen, and anchor team defense.
  • Flex: fill gaps; adapt to team needs and stabilize lineups.

If you’re unsure, start with Wing or Flex: you can contribute without needing perfect ball control.

2) Learn the two most important fundamentals

Spacing

Don’t stack on top of teammates. Keep passing lanes open and punish help defense.

Rotations

If someone helps, someone must cover. Rotate early and communicate with positioning.

3) Use tools (with the right expectations)

This site includes a Build Lab and a Gacha Planner. Some stats and recommendations may be estimated placeholders until better sources are available.

4) Next: choose styles and zones

Once you know your role, you can pick a style and zone that match how you want to play.
